About Us
Simon and Kate Thomas establish Silk Southdowns in 2011, upon return to Kate's family farm. We are privileged to be the third generation to call this farm home.
Silk Southdowns is located on the banks of the Wannon river in majestic red gum country.
At SILK our goal is to breed a sire that produces the perfect trade sucker lamb. With the farms commercial lamb enterprise underpinning our breeding strategies we are achieving clearance rates of 95% for the trade lambs weighing 18 to 24 kg carcass at 16weeks. All the while Silk Southdowns is still maintaining core characteristics of fine shoulders, tight skins and maximum muscling.
The versatility of our rams mean they are able to join merino maidens through to the mature cross bred ewes .
